This year has seen some major moments for Azure HPC and AI Supercomputing.
After entering a strategic partnership with OpenAI last year, OpenAI have now released their first application programming interface (API) for their general-purpose language model, which gives developers access to advanced natural language processing (NLP). Microsoft has also deployed dedicated cloud supercomputing capability for OpenAI.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Randles and her team at Duke University partnered with Microsoft AI for Health to run over 800,000 computer hours in just 36 hours to build a life-saving solution for ventilator scarcity.
A partnership with Microsoft enabled UCB to massively increase their productivity in their COVID Moonshot initiative. By using Azure, they were able to six months worth of work in just three days, which marks a significant step towards developing solutions for the COVID-19 pandemic.
