Google Cloud has recently unveiled VM Manager, a suite of infrastructure management tools. Despite enterprises accelerating their digital transformations, the cloud can be complex, as stated by Google Cloud Product Manager Ravi Kiran Chintalapudi. Migrating to the cloud can meaning having to navigate familiar tools to manage and operate large fleets of virtual machines (VM). Ravi Kiran Chintalapudi points out that managing infrastructure security and compliance visibility at cloud scale can be particularly challenging for infrastructure and operations administrators.
VM Manager was designed specifically to address all of these pain points, created to simplify and automate the maintenance of large fleets of Compute Engine VMs. Described as a cloud-native solution that has Google-scale infrastructure in mind, it provides a simplified toolset for automated compliance reporting and software deployment at scale. The VM Manager suite also includes patch management and configuration management services.
